  • August 6th:  In Memory of Bohdan Khmelnytsky Died on this date in 1957.  He was a Ukrainian soldier, polititian & 1st Hetman of the Zaporizhian Host
  • August 8th:  Signal Troops Day in Ukraine
  • August 11th:  Ukrainian History item:  Two Aero Flot Tupolev TU-134s collide over the Ukrainian city of Dneprodzerzhinsk and crash, all 178 persons perish between both planes.
